Research Methodology and Partners

The Navigator of Responsible Lending research maps players in the consumer lending space (consumer durable loans as well as cash/ personal loans), and broadly evaluates them on the basis of their responsible lending practices, customer experience, financial inclusion and initiatives towards improving the financial literacy of customers and public at large.

The study has been carried out by the premiere Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, by a research team under the guidance of the illustrious Prof. Devashish Dasgupta. The study is validated by the Financial Planning Standards Board, a Public–Private Enterprise and a Professional Standards Setting body for Financial Planners in India and works towards the goal of financial literacy and education.


About Us

The Navigator of Responsible Lending aspires to create a platform that reflects the state of consumer finance with respect to responsible lending practices in the country and improve the overall quality of services towards customers.

The key objectives of the project are:

    Map and describe the India consumer lending market

  2. 2

    Assess the quality of service provided by individual providers with respect to responsible lending and their efforts to improve financial literacy

  3. 3

    To provide the consumer with a tool to judge the various consumer lending providers and for market payers to use as a benchmark of service quality

It is with these key objectives, that the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow has embarked upon this project with the Financial Planning Standard Board, to map the consumer finance market in India and assess individual credit providers on parameters of responsible lending. The ultimate objective of this study is to create a tool that can help consumers select a lending partner who not only is compliant, but goes a step beyond to ensure a responsible lending experience and contributes to improving their level of financial literacy.
